Collier PTA Board

Elsie Collier PTA is one of the strongest PTA’s in the Mobile County Public School System, with its primary objective to strengthen the family unit through parent involvement. Times and issues may change, but advocating for children still requires steadfast parent involvement. With the support of our over 800 members, Elsie Collier PTA joins school personnel in emphasizing parent involvement strategies in all policies and initiatives that affect children.

Today's family structure has changed significantly from 25 years ago, and Elsie Collier PTA is changing to meet the needs of today's families. We are working harder to be inclusive, to be relevant, to be proactive. PTA speaks and takes action on the issues that really matter to parents and to children's well being.

PTA members represent the ethnic diversity of our school, and come from the ranks of traditional and non-traditional households plus other caring adults.

The Objects of PTA

  • To encourage parent and public involvement.
  • To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, and the community.
  • To raise the standards of home life.
  • To bring into closer relation the home and the school so parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of our children and youth.

In order to help children and their families, our PTA has sponsored projects such as:

  • Providing school packs and uniforms to sell at school for parent convenience
  • Providing incentives to honor roll students
  • Purchasing materials to help students better prepare for standardized tests
  • Providing teachers with mini-grants to enable them to incorporate innovative teaching techniques in the classroom.
  • Purchasing classroom supplies for new teachers
  • Purchasing safety mats and new playground equipment to be used in the PE program
  • Purchasing reading kits for kindergarten classrooms
  • Purchasing books for classroom libraries, the “Book Room”, and our Accelerated Reader Program
  • Providing funds for teacher professional development

We know that you love your children and want to do the best for them, we all know that children learn more and have better lives when parents, school staff, students, and the community work together. PTA brings all these groups together to share thoughts and ideas about programs and activities that benefit children.

Your children need you! The Elsie Collier PTA invites you to join with us to make a difference in the education and quality of life for our children. By becoming a member, your support will help our school be all that it can be!
