I am very excited to be at Collier Elementary and I look forward to meeting all of you. I will work diligently to provide every child with a comprehensive guidance program that will help him/her develop academically, socially, and personally.

Throughout the year I will see students in large group counseling every other week. I will meet with students in kindergarten, third, fourth, and fifth grades. Mrs. Boland, our half-time counselor, will see students in first and second grades. In large group counseling we will focus on the CHARACTER COUNTS! curriculum. This is a wonderful and effective program that teaches children moral and ethical values and behavior. The six pillars of character are Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship. I believe that it is our responsibility as adults to instill these values in all of our students. Other topics we will discuss are personal safety, career exploration, study skills, goal-setting, and substance abuse education.

I will also facilitate several small groups throughout the year. These small groups will focus on areas such as anger/behavior management, study skills, divorce, etc.
