Daily Schedule

Warm-up: This is approximately the first 5-10 minutes of class.  Students come into the gym and walk one lap around the outside perimeter.  Once they have completed their lap, they go to their class lines, and then do their exercises (K-2=Dance; 3-5=Stretches).  Kindergarten does not walk laps.  They just come in, and go directly to their class lines.

Activity Time: This is approximately 20-25 minutes of the class period.  Students do whatever their activity for the day is for this time.

Closure/Cool-down: This is approximately the last 5 minutes of class.  During this time students are recognized for exemplary behavior in P.E. by signing the sunshine wall.  Students are then dismissed back to class.

Grading Policy

Students at Collier Elementary are graded in P.E. based on class participation and behavior.  Students who participate in class, and exhibit good behavior will receive an S for their P.E. grade.

Students are given what we call check marks on their behavior log if they do something that is disruptive in class, something that causes harm to another student or if they break any P.E. or school rule.

Grades k-2:   If a student receives 5 check marks within the course of one quarter then a behavior warning notice is sent home to inform parents of the situation.  This notice includes why the child has been receiving check marks in class.  If a child receives 10 check marks within the course of a quarter then that student will receive a detention as well as an N on his or her report card for that quarter.  A notice is also sent home when a child receives 10 check marks.

Grades 2-5: If a student receives 5 check marks within the course of one quarter then a behavior warning notice is sent home to inform parents of the situation.  This notice includes why the child has been receiving check marks in class.  If the note is not signed and returned the next school day, then that student is given a detention warning.  If a child receives 7 check marks within the course of one quarter then that student will receive a detention warning.  If a child receives 10 check marks within the course of a quarter then that student will receive a detention as well as an N on his or her report card for that quarter.
